We stopped in at Barcelo’s on a snowy Sunday evening for dinner on our way home. It was getting late, and the roads were quiet, so we were pleasantly surprised by how warm and welcoming the restaurant felt as soon as we stepped inside. The staff greeted us right away and quickly took our order at the counter, which was especially nice after being out in the cold. We ordered the family meal and added a poutine on the side. Despite it being late in the evening, the food came out very quickly, and there was plenty of seating available. The service throughout our visit was consistently friendly and attentive, making the experience feel relaxed and easy. As for the food—everything was delicious. The potatoes were perfectly cooked with great texture and flavor, and the chicken was done to absolute perfection: tender, juicy, and well-seasoned. The accompanying salad was fresh and surprisingly flavorful, rounding out the meal nicely. The poutine was also enjoyable, with a generous amount of cheese and a hearty portion of meat. The only thing we would have loved is just a bit more gravy, but overall it was still very satisfying. The restaurant itself feels like a bit of a hidden gem—seemingly in the middle of nowhere since it’s not located in a particularly busy area, yet it has a large parking lot and a warm, inviting interior that makes it feel comfortable and homey. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Barcelo’s and were impressed by both the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. We definitely plan to return for a second visit.

We were the area and were happy to find a Portuguese restaurant nearby. We ordered the family meal for takeout which should includes fries, rice or potatoes as per their menu. We decided to upgrade to a poutine not realizing that we lost the rice portion of the meal with the upgrade. This should be posted or communicated somewhere when a customer orders. I really did want to try the rice. The chicken was very moist, juicy and delicious. We ordered the piri piri sauce on the side and didn’t even bother using it. The chicken was really tasty by itself. The poutine and salad were just ok. Nothing too special. We really enjoyed our meal and and will come back to try other items on the menu.

This is amazing, I took the Combo #1 and the 6 Natas, what you see in the photo is my quarter of the meal. The chicken was perfect, fries delicious and the salad dressing was unique and tasty. I encourage you to support this local business that was brave enough to open during a pandemic. The prices are really good value. Let's keep this place open!
